Who We Are
The Sixth Episcopal District comprises the
entire state of Georgia. Our presiding prelate
is Bishop Othal Hawthorne Lakey. There are
four Annual Conferences in the district:
Georgia North, Central Georgia, West
Georgia, and South Georgia. Dr. Elfreda A.
Lakey is the Music Coordinator for the
District. Her vision is to create an
collaborative instrument where all singers,
musicians, and choral directors can bring
their best together for development and
performance. Each district has a music

program which provides musical support to the Annual Conference. Dr. Lakey has
combined these choirs to form an Episcopal Choir which supports the Bishop
during Connectional and Ecumenical services. This choir also performs during the
Quadrennial Annual Conference (all four conferences annual meeting being held
together simultaneously).
